CME with Cisco Call manager

Hi guys

we have a call manager 12.5 ( PUB & SUB ) and uses a cisco ISR 4331 with 32 PVDM and UC license as H323 voice gatway with FXO and the ISR is providing DHCP to the IP Phones ...

My quest is in order to add more IP Phones to the system , can i run the ISR as an indepandant Call manager Express with a new DN extenstion and establish a sip trunk between the CUCM and CME ,, if so how much exactly the IP Phones can i add to this ISR 4331 CME ???

Thank you in advance

Yes, you can have CME on the ISR (assuming you have bought the necessary licenses) and integrate with CUCM via a SIP trunk.

For capacity, see here

Hi nithin and thank you for answer

Just to reduce the cost of buying a new user license so we just want to add a small user number .

My second question , since it's allowed to use 100 IP Phone , is it iclude cisco SIP IP Phones 8845 with video calls ?

Just so that you know CME is also a licensed system, so you’ll need to have licenses for that as well. On your question, I don’t think that you’ll get video calling functionality with CME, but I’m not sure.

I don't see much cost reduction, both CUCM and CME require license. if your CUCM can accommodate these phones i will prefer to add the licenses on CUCM and register them on CUCM.

Especially if this is a single office where all phones reside in same office i dont recommend your option. If the router is in another site i may consider the option what you are trying.

you can make video calls but  point to point. video conferencing is not possible as this required additional servers like CMS.
