CUCM 10.5.2

Hello there.

We have a Cisco Business Edition 7000, with CUCM running 10.5.2 version.

Our Publisher is crashed. So, we need to restore it.

We are looking in Cisco library for VM files, but the version we drive is not available in Cisco library.

Who has the CUCM version 10.5.2 OVAs files that can provide it to us?

Thanks for your attention.

Jorge Mosquera

The OVA isn't specific for versions. As long as there are no changes to the underlying systems specs in the OVA you can use any version, it doesn't even need to be the same major version.

Unrestricted is the most common installed version. Restricted would mostly be used if the system is in an embargo country.

You can download cucm_10.5_vmv8_v1.8.ova from this link.

Hello @Nithin Eluvathingal. Thanks for your reply.

Is this version 10.5.2? It appears to be version 10.5.1.8.

Regards.

AFAIK, there isn’t a specific 10.5.2 or 10.5.1 version for the OVA. The one I shared should work with all 10.5 version deployments. After all, it’s just an OVA template.

Ok, thanks @Nithin Eluvathingal and @Roger Kallberg for your appreciate help.

So, also need CUCM 10.5.2 ISO files to install and restore Publisher? Anyone can help with this file?

Thanks.

Hmm, this is why you should upgrade to the latest releases instead of running an EOL  version, which puts your infrastructure at risk.I have an FCS 10.5 (unrestricted version) that I can share—would that work for you? What version are you looking for, unrestricted or restricted?

Note: I don’t usually do this or recommend sharing ISO images in the community. Install the FCS and use the upgrade option during installation to bring it to your desired version.

If that doesn’t work, you might find some options online for converting a non-bootable image to a bootable one, though I’m not sure how reliable those are.

I really agree with you. I worked in this facility a long time ago and, now, they called me again to try to solve the problem with the Publisher, but, during this period, there was no one to worry about the management of the CUCM.

I'm almost certain that the version that is required is the Restricted version (I need to check in one of the Subscribers), but you can help me by sharing the Unrestricted version you have.

Thanks for your concern in this case.

Ok, @Roger Kallberg, then @Nithin Eluvathingal your file will be the correct one.

Regards.

Here are the differences between Restricted vs. Unrestricted: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/15/security/guide/b_15cucsecx/b_15cucsecx_chapter_01011.html

If you are currently running an Unrestricted version, it means you are prevented from using encryption, those secure interfaces mentioned in the chart will be unavailable for you to use.  Restricted is what we see most in the United States where encryption is allowed and required in many situations for government, military, financial institutions, etc.  Your country may vary but hopefully this clears up any confusion about which version you need/want.  There are also upgrade implications, depending on what you're doing.  See the note in the link above as well:

Upgrading a restricted version to an unrestricted version is supported, but future upgrades are then limited to unrestricted versions. Upgrading an unrestricted version to a restricted version is not supported.

Thanks @Brad Magnani for your infomation.

According to the image attached, extracted from one of Subscriber, we are using the Restricted version, otherwise, would say it expesively there.

Correct, you will need to upgrade using a Restricted version.

@Nithin Eluvathingal Could you, please, share ISO file?

Thanks again for your help.

Regards.

I was trying to upload it because the download from my repository was intermittently failing, requiring me to retry multiple times. However, in this case, Unrestricted won’t be of help to you.

If you install with Unrestricted, you can’t upgrade it to Restricted. If the subscriber is on a Restricted version, you’ll need to install the Restricted version of the PUB.

I’ll share the download link for the files in a couple of hours anyway.
