I'm using CUCM7.1.5 and want to login on the system console by connecting a keyboard and screen to the server. What password do I need to use? I tried the username/password I use when I login via SSH session but that doesn't work.

Yes, you need to use OS admin credentials (which is used for SSH) but username is case sensitive so take care of small/caps letters, that's it.

I'm able to login via SSH but when I use the same username and password on the system console it fails.

As Suresh mentioned, the same credentials you use to log via SSH, you use directly on console, I'd look into problems with the keyboard you're using, the language you configured for ESXi matches the keyboard and if USB keyboard, try other port.
