CUE Licensing Issue

I have a SM-SRE-710-K9 module running CUE software version 8.6.7 installed in a Cisco 2911 running 15.2(4)M4 and can not get the licenses to work to save my life.  This licensing system is confusing and even after reading this forum for quite some time, I was not able to come up with an answer. 

When I configure the CUE module through the web under Voice Mail --> Call Handling, I type the pilot number and use a value of "10" for maximum sessions.  I then get the message "Warning:  Number of sessions exceeds license limit.  Do you want to continue?"  Then, when I try to dial the pilot number for CUE, I get a "SIP/2.0 486 Busy Here" message and hear a busy tone on the phone. 

After reading through these forums, I ran the command, "show license all" and got the following output:

I saw that the license was "Active, Not in use", so logically speaking all I have to do is put it to use, right?  So I entered the command "license activate voicemail mailboxes 10" and accepted the EULA by typing "y".  I then typed "license activate ports 10" and accepted the EULA by typing "y".  I then typed "license activate ivr sessions 10" and accepted the EULA by typing "y".  I then reloaded the router.  Now when I run the command “show license all”, I get the following output:

This output seemed encouraging.  However, when I type the command “show license status application”, I get the following output:

CUE# show license status application
voicemail disabled, ivr session quantity (10) is equal to or exceeds available ports (10)
ivr enabled: 10 sessions

 

It looks like the ports and IVR features are active, but for some reason, voicemail is disabled.  What am I missing here?

Here's an excerpt from an excellent doc;

 

Common error message:

That worked!  So if I understand this correctly, you need a port license in addition to a mailbox license, which sets the amount of mailboxes or IVR sessions you can have.  

For example, if you have 10 port licenses, you can have any combination of mailboxes and IVR sessions that add up to 10.  Well, in this case it’s only two combinations since the mailboxes have to be in increments of 5:

10 Port Licenses

5 Mailbox Licenses

5 IVR Licenses

 

10 Port Licenses

10 Mailbox Licenses

0 IVR Licenses

 

If my logic is correct, the following makes sense for a permanent license, correct?  We only have a need for 5 mailboxes and 3 IVR sessions.

 

8 Port Licenses

5 Mailbox Licenses

3 IVR Licenses

You are on the right track here but with one small correction smiley

 

Only the IVR sessions need to be less than the total number of ports. You could probably run 60 mailboxes (or more) with 10 ports as they are not based on a one to one relationship just the number or simultaneous mailbox connections to CUE. But each IVR session does reserve one of the ports so it can't be used for mailbox access (make sense??) thus the total IVR sessions must be less than the available ports as we noted in the first part of this thread.
