I have a question with regards to changing both the primary and secondary DNS servers on CUC (Unity) cluster (2 nodes Publisher and Subscriber) version 11.5.
Do not click ‘y’ to continue
3. Access the Prime License Manager and click Product Instances. Copy the details of the CUC instance and then delete it.
4. Go back to the CUC Publisher cli and click ‘y’ to continue (applies the DNS change)
5. A new "WARNING" will display stating "This will cause the system to temporarily lose network connectivity". Click ‘y’ to continue.
Here is where I have questions:
1. Do I then enter the secondary DNS server in the CUC Unity Publisher cli using the command below:
set network dns secondary X.X.X.X
Then go back and Access the Prime License Manager > Product Instances > Click Add > Enter the same information for the CUC Unity Publisher product instance?
Click ‘Test Connection’ to ensure it is successful and then click ‘Synchronize Now’?
2. Is there any way to change both the primary and secondary DNS servers and apply both changes in one command?
3. Once the DNS servers are changed on both the Publisher and subscriber, is a restart of the servers required? Or is a restart required as any stage in this process?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

1 There is no real need to delete the product instances, as long as you update your PLM DNS as well to resolve the hostname, if you're using IP then that's not required at all.
2 No
3 No, that should not be required.

Hi there
Inorder to avoid license sync issues, you can delete the product instance from the PLM before the DNS change. Once the changing is done, add the product instance
Login to PLM >> Product Instances >> Add > Provide the CUCM Publisher IP/Host name and OS Admin credentials to add the product instance. Once added, "Synchronize Now".
To find out which PLM you are using. Navigate CUCM admin page > System > Licensing > License Usage report. You can find the host name/IP address of PLM.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply Jamie.
I will be changing the DNS servers for both CUCM and CUC publisher servers (which are the only 2 product instances on the PLM). The PLM looks to be running on both the CUCM pub and Sub servers but only configured with product instances on the Publishers. (I'm used to the dedicated ELM server from ver 9 and PLM appears to run on the CUCM servers themselves.)
The product instances are entered with the host name in the 'Name' field.
Since I am updating the DNS entries for the CUCM pub which is the PLM server, I should do not need to delete and read the instance?
Thanks again.

i have cucm 11.5 cluster in production and the license are installed in it , i did the implementation without DNS server , now i need to add DNS server setting on my cluster , i have two questions :
1-should i follow the same steps and remove the cucm instant from the PLM first before i add the domain name and the DNS server ( primary & secondary ) ?
2-Should i do the steps in PUB node first and then SUP ,and then add the cucm pub instant back in PLM ?
2-my license mac will impact by adding the DNS setting to my cluster , or the license will not be impacted by this change ?
please if you can help me in that .
Thank you
Best regards
