For cdr you may pull the cdr reports by extension and check the Termination cause code as per the following table

I cannot get into explaining the traces as it is a vast subject. Traces can be SCCP , SIP , MGCP or H323 based and all of them would have diff signaling and complexity based on call flow. You can search online for sample trace scenarios and testin your lab setup to make it easy to understand. You can start by first checking the following link on how to gather traces
