Hi there,
Have you tried the service-module install url method, ex:
service-module sm 0/0 install url ftp://username:password@128.107.146.189/dir/cue-vm- k9.sme.7.1.2.pkg script cue-vm- k9.sme.7.1.2.sre

HTH,
Chris

Dude, this totally worked... I was trying dozens of different versions of code on an SRE-300 and every time, corrupted netboot image... did the service-module install and it worked like a champ!
Thanks!

Hello ...
in my case... I use the version 8.0.5 first with boothelper and work, but in a moment before, when I tried to do it with the process described in another answer, I can do it but I forgot the language package, and the installation give an error... in that moment I didn't associate the error to the language package file but when I use the boot helper the error is more specific and I download the language file and finish the instalation with 8.0.5 and after that with the service-module process I upgrade to 8.6.6
