Jabber alternative for click 2 call

Cisco Unified CM Administration - System version: 11.5.1.16900-16

We have Jabber installed on 1000's of endpoints. The only feature we use is click 2 call. Is there a lightweight alternative?

From what I understand that still requires Jabber. So it would not fulfil the OP question.
