I am being tasked with upgrading CUCM from 8.5 to 11.0. The client is running a virtual CUCM 8.5 on a MCS server. We are getting them a new B6000M with an OVA of 1000 users. I have to upgrade and migrate this system. The current documentation that I have is as follows:
1) B6000M Quick Start Guide
2) Install Guide for the B6000M, Release 11.0
3) Upgrade guide for CUCM, release 11.0, which includes upgrading to IM&P
4) Install Upgrade and Maintenance Guide for CUC Release 11.0
5) CUCCX Install and Upgrade Guide, Release 11.0(1)
This being my first CUCM upgrade, it sounds pretty straight forward, but I am a little confused as to how the actual migration fro CUCM 8.5 and the current users, will be moved over to the new hardware and CUCM 11.0
If I follow the documents, should I do the following in order as above, and what things do I need to look out for while performing this upgrade. And then how will the users be moved over in the migration process.
If anyone has a step by step quick breakdown, it would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks for all your help.

First of all, if what you say is true, that's a NOT supported environment.
MCS servers are not valid virtualization platforms for any production environment.
For ANY upgrade you will ever do, you always need to review:
A) Upgrade guide
B) Release notes
Depending on version, there used to be a new and changed... doc, which now is usually included in the RNs, if not, that's the 3rd doc you must read.
ALL the pre-requisites, procedure, and post upgrade procedures, are covered in those 2-3 docs.
Now, you have two options:
A) PCD migration
B) Install the same release you have on UCS, migrate the info with DRS, then upgrade
You can find videos with related info on both procedures here

Any of the above options will move the users.
