Good Day,

We currently have Cucm 9.1 installed and will be adding a few remote phones. What is the best way to provide location services to these phones for E911 purposes?  Is there something built in to do this or another module ?

Thanks

Hi,

For enhanced 911, the best way to do it would be with the help of Cisco Emergency responder. CER provides enhanced 911. In CER you can add phones based on the IP address/MAC or discover them by adding the switch details in CER. The biggest advantage of CER is that in the event of a mishap if a user dials 911, it will not only redirect the call to CUCM to be routed out to PSTN but would also alert the local security by sending a call to the local security number along with an email alert where the local security can also see the location details.

Please refer to the document below to get some more information:

So with CER, I would be able to attach addresses to offsite phones?  I wouldnt need anything else to do this?

Correct. You need to create ERL and update automatic location identifier and submit it to your service provider.

If you are satisfied with the ERL and ALI definitions, export the ALI information and submit it to your service provider. Work with your service provider to determine the file format and submission requirements. You must submit this information so that emergency calls from your ERLs can be routed to the correct public safety answering point (PSAP)
