OVA Customer re-sizing

Hello All,

I have a question about the sizing of an already deployed cluster. Is it possible to downgrade the OVA? Is it possible to modify the initial resource allocation of that OVA?

Thanks in advance.

No, you cannot remove resources

  • Removing virtual hardware resources (vCPU, vRAM, vDisk, etc.) is not supported (similar to moving from a more powerful server to a less powerful server, such as MCS 7845 ? MCS 7825). These migrations require backing up the application, reinstalling on a new OVA file, and and restoring the application.

if this helps, please rate

Even if it’s technically not allowed, if the system running isn’t operating outside of the boundaries of the size of the smaller OVA option it would be no actual problem downsizing the resources. With the obvious exception of disk size as that cannot be changed.

The recommended method is to redeploy on a new OVA and restore the backup. However, resizing is also commonly done. The choice is yours: you can follow the recommendations/Follow Cisco documents. The advantage of following the recommended method is that it saves time. When you deviate from vendor recommendations, it may cause unexpected challenges and consume unplanned amount of time to fix them.

It's like a gamble
