PCD Migration fails with DNS invalid or not reachable though the DNS IP is reachable also DNS record is valid, we are ending up with unsuccessful migration

check PTR records. if there are more than 1 for the IP address, it will fail.

If the DNS server is inaccessible or if both the A record and PTR records are not established on the DNS, it is normal for the PCD migrations to fail. Please ensure that the configured DNS is reachable and that the necessary records are in place.

Hello Nithin,
thanks for the reply. Yes I have verified DNS is reachable but fails during migration.

have you checked A and PTR records??

It’s not just about reachability. If either the forward or reverse lookup fails, the migrations will fail when using PCD. So, please check if the records are correctly set up. Have you configured the domain? Also, ensure that the CUCM has the correct domain configured.

Hi Nithin,
Yes I have verified it - forward and reverse DNS looks fine.

are there multiple A or PTR records for the hostname or IP address?
03-12-2024 01:36 PM
Hi Steven,
No there are no multiple records.

you should double check everything. something is not correct in your DNS setup or you would not be having the issue.
The DNS requirements are simple and straightforward. You are missing a forward or reverse record OR you have duplicate forward or reverse records. There is really no other possibility.

You didn’t mention anything about the domain. Is the correct domain configured in the CUCM? How do you ensure that the new CUCM node you’re migrating has reachability to the DNS?
Are your VM network settings correct? The CUCM will throw a DNS warning when it cannot reach or resolve the DNS to the hostname. Please check again.
If the new VM you are migrating to cannot reach the DNS or resolve the DNS entries, the migration will not proceed with the PCD

What was the solution to your problem? I'm getting the same error in a migration from 11.5 to 15
