Re the need for numerical sequence in a Line Group for Voicemail

I would like to know why, in the integration docs for SCCP/Unity Connection (version 9...I think all versions have this "caution" though) there is a note that, when configuring your line group for the voicemail directory numbers they must be in a numerical sequence. I have 2 large sites in a campus environment. I'd like to keep calls to CUC from going over the WAN, however, each site would be a backup for each other. The scenario I am playing with is below.

For EXAMPLE:

VM DirectoryNumbers

5551110001

5551110002

5552220001

5552220002

Site A VM Profile Pilot Number: 5551110000

Site B VM Profile Pilot Number: 5552220000

Line Group for Hunt Pilot 5551110000

5551110001

5551110002

5552220001

5552220002

Line Group for Hunt Pilot 5552220000

5552220001

5552220002

5551110001

5551110002

(The doc says this won't work because the numbers are not in a numerical sequence. I am curious as to why, since in any other LG, you don't have to put the members in a numerical sequence?)

Simply reference different Hunt List to control which LG to use, so HL1 - server1, server2, HL2 - server2, server1, then either use hunt pilot1 or 2 to redistribute between the voicemail servers.
