Replacing UM Unity Server

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade a customers unity 3.1.5 UM (Exchange off box) server to version 4.0.4 and at the same time replace the hardware.

The unity upgrade process etc is fine and I have read the reconfig & upgrade guide but the customer is asking questions concerning removing the existing unity server from the domain and GUID issues.

I was intending to disconnect the existing unity server (a member server in the domain), build the new server with the same name & ip address and then as per the install guide, add it to the w2k domain.

Once the new server was a member of the domain then I would complete the install and restore the v 3.1.5 data.

They are also concerned about any effects on the AD domain & forest and the exchange organisation this process may have.

Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions as to whether this would work ok?

Thanks

This is the standard procedure for replacing hardware so there isn't much to be concerned with. However, after running the DiRT backup you should run the Unity uninstall on the existing 3.1(5) server. Make sure to follow these manual steps as well before installing the replacement Unity server:
