Hi folks,
in the DocWiki it is stated that the UCS C220-M3 TRC#2 is supported for BE6k and UC on UCS.
But in the documentation below:
Quote:
Cisco UCS C220 M3 Rack-Mount server TRC2 is supported only for use with Cisco Business Edition 6000. To deploy Cisco applications other than Cisco Business Edition 6000 on a UCS C220 M3 Rack-Mount server use Cisco UCS C220 M3 rack-mount server TRC1.
What is right, what is wrong?
Cheers
Christian

docwiki is always the overwriting source of information when it comes to UC on UCS.

Hi Chris,
I have the same kind of a problem and I want to run following UC apps on C220-M3 TRC#2.
1. CUCM(8.6) 1000 user node (2vCPUs)
2. UCCX(8.5) 300 agent node (2vCPUs)
3. Unity Connection (8.6) 1000 user node (1vCPU)
According to docwiki, I can use C220-M3 TRC#2 to run all three above. But, one of the local SE here says that we can not use TRC#2. Do you see any problem with this?
Thanks in advance!
Regards
Dhammike.

Dhammike,
You would be OK with CUCM per the following:
For use only on UCS C200M2 TRC#1 (including BE6000) and C220M3 TRC#2 (including BE6000).
http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/OVA_Template_Details_for_Unified_CM_Release_9.0
For UCXN the 1K tempalte is for BE6K according to the notes here, but I think this is not accurate as I belive Cisco supports it on any platform:
For use on CUCM-BE 6000
http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/OVA_Template_Details_for_Unity_Connection_Release_9.0.1
UCCX does not appear to be supported on C220 or documentation has not been updated as it is not listed here:
http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Virtualization_for_Unified_CCX
or in the compatibility matrix:
You may want to open PDI ticket with Cisco (if you have partner access) to validate.
HTH, please rate all useful posts!

I had a same query and asked the same question to one of the Cisco SEs here and responded that yes we can use the TRC#2 for the UC apps not just CUCMBE. Second thing is I got a BoM made by Cisco SE and he quoted same TRC#2 for UCCX as well.
What I have seen is any configuration should work. Most of it depends on the compatibilty of the VMware OS with the processor and second thing is the number of users you are going to deploy. I deployed UC apps on UCS C210M2 in my office and the configuration definitely does not match any of the TRC and it is working perfectly.
