Hello,
I have been trying to get Unified Messaging up and running and am encountering the same issue. When I test the Unified Messaging Service I have set up it is able to contact the server but when I test the account I am running into the following error.
HTTP status=[500 Internal Server Error] Diagnostic=[Bad response from server, HTTP code returned: 500] Verb=[POST] url=[https://exchange.encinajpa.com/EWS/Exchange.ASMX] request=[<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:t="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/services/2006/types"> <soap:Header> <t:RequestServerVersion Version="Exchange2007_SP1"/> <t:ExchangeImpersonation> <t:ConnectingSID> <t:PrimarySmtpAddress>mbonifacini@encinajpa.com</t:PrimarySmtpAddress> </t:ConnectingSID> </t:ExchangeImpersonation> </soap:Header> <soap:Body> <GetFolder xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/services/2006/messages" xmlns:t="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/services/2006/types"> <FolderShape> <t:BaseShape>Default</t:BaseShape> </FolderShape> <FolderIds> <t:DistinguishedFolderId Id="deleteditems"> <t:Mailbox> <t:EmailAddress>mbonifacini@encinajpa.com</t:EmailAddress> </t:Mailbox> </t:DistinguishedFolderId> </FolderIds> </GetFolder> </soap:Body> </soap:Envelope> ] response=[]
I have followed the tech notes but have not found a solution that remedies my problem. The one thing that I noticed that was confusing to me was that it is appears to be referencing Exchange 2007 and we are using Exchange 2013. Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Was it working before? Have you assigned the Application Impersonation management role to the unified messaging services account for Exchange 2013? Please see below URL:

@Vaijanath Sonvane Yes it was working before and then just stopped working randomly. I have assigned the Application Impersonation Management Role as you have suggested and still have not been able to fix the problem.

Hi,
I don't have any knowledge on exchange side to help you more on this issue. I was reading similar issue from below thread and it was pointing to certificates related to Exchange. You can check below post:

Hello Vaijanath,
I have now followed the recommendation from Microsoft and still run into a Internal Error 500. We installed brand new Certificate without SMTP as it suggests. I have made a new user and made sure to assign it the Application Impersonation Management role. I'm at a complete loss, TAC says its not an error on the Cisco side but there is no solution on the Microsoft side that seems to fix my issue.
Thanks,
Michael Bonifacini
