I was in the process of upgrading a 3.1(5) to 4.0(4)when my upgrade took a turn for the worse and now I'm rebuilding with clean OS.
My plan at this point is to get 3.1(5) back up and attempt the 4.0 upgrade again next weekend.
My question is, after I install the OS, can I just run the CUSPA on the 4.0 CDs to install all the other parts so I don't have to do it manually like in the old days ;-)
I think it should be alright, but I'm cautious because I've been here a long time already.

You might run in to a problem where 3.1(5) installation looks for specific Microsoft hotfixes that aren't there because you have a later service pack that includes them. The logic we had in there when checking to see if the system is patched correctly is what I would call less than perfect.
If that happens you can hack up the XML files to get around the check. The files are stored in the SysCheck\ENU directory. Just make sure you only remove tests for hotfixes, not something critical to Unity.
Thanks,
Keith

Thanks Keith,
In the interest of trying to save some time, I'm going for it... I think it might be alright, as earlier I had already run CUSPA, then uninstalled Unity and reinstalled 3.1... it failed writing to SQL which is why I'm rebuilding, but it didn't complain about any of the patches.
