backup succeds if unityMBXDB2 is selected but fails if UNITYMBXDB1 is selected.

Going by the looks of it. Seems to be an issue with the Mailboxdatabase 2 size being high which is causing the backup to fail. Generally in some versions of Unity Connection, if the size is high to a certain limit, although cant say the exact threshold of being high, but the ucxn backup fails. And most importantly for the sftp sessions.

Their is a bug related to it, check it out and most probably your version of unity connection might be affected by it.

https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCtf40892

The workaround mention is taking a cobras backup or switch to the fixed version.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply.

Do u have any such link or DOC which talks about COBRAS?

Hi Aman,

If you mean about taking the backup of Unity connection database through cobras and how to go about configuring it then download the doc attached

It surely will help.

Which SFTP server are you using?

Try with one of the the supported/tested ones,

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/drs_administration/guide/8xcucdrsag.html#wp42532

You can also use FreeFTPd.

The logs file is not complete. I'm assuming it is case of broken pipe issue. Restart the DRF Master and Local service on the CUC and use one of the supported SFTP servers. Also ensure the backup location has sufficient space and also take the backup on a new location.

Hi Anirudh,

thanks for reply.

We are using freeftpd for taking backup but not able to take backup.

Tried restaring DRF services and different PC but still the problem is same.

I have attached logs .If u can have a look ,please advise so that we can do more troubleshooting.

regds,

Hello Aman,

The logs are truncated here. This is how it will be when you download it via the GUI page. Need the complete logs file. You can get the complete log via RTMT.

Hi Anirudh,

thanks for reply.

I will ask Site engr. to get the logs and will share it with you.

"error writing output file" indicates some issue with the backup location/folder/file.

Can you move it to a different location and test?

This could also be CSCtf40892. Backup fails for huge database size. This is fixed in higher releases - 8.0.3.22019-1 or 8.5(1)

Hi Anirudh,

[+5]

thanks for the reply.I woudl check with Site Engr. whether he has tried changinh to a different location in PC.

Is there any way I can reduce /delete any maiboxes or messages for users which do not exist and messages which are not accessed by users for long time?

regds,

aman

Sorry for the late response. Got held up and couldn't look into this.

The best way is to set Message Aging Policy. If you need to Bulk delete the old messages, you can open a TAC case and ask the engineer to help you delete the messages. You can ask the engineer to refer to the 'Delete Messages & Reduce Disk Size' internal document.
