Hi,
Large customer wants to cull some of its licensed mailboxes that are no longer being used. As they are not integrated with LDAP, many former users have not been removed from Unity and some existing users have mailboxes but may not use them at all.
Is there any easy way to determine say a set of mailboxes that have not had activity for a period of time? And then this list could be deleted....
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
There are a number of results in this great "Unity" tool that can help in determining unused (dormant) accounts in Unity Connection. Here are a few;
Mailbox unread messages older than 60 days
. The number of messages currently in the users’ mailbox that are unread (new) and arrived 30 or more days ago. This can be useful in finding mailboxes that are not being used.
NOTE: This requires that the time of the local client and the time of the Connection server be in agreement (they do not need to be in the same time zone, of course).
Time of Last Call. Indicates the date and time the user called in to check messages last. This can be handy for finding out which boxes have not been access at all or which ones have not been accessed in a long time. This value is converted into the local time of the computer you are running User Data Dump on
From this awesome tool;

Hi Rob
Do you know if the values of "User generated mailbox activity detected" includes activity from Cisco Viewmail ? We have the same situation and we believe quite a number of voicemail accounts can be deleted but we need to confirm this however running these reports we are not 100% sure it does include Viewmail as there are definitely accounts from users who are still working for the company but they show up on this report.
Thanks, Carl Ratcliffe

Hi Carl,
I wish I had a 100% answer for you but I'm afraid I don't as we don't use viewmail. I believe that the reports using CUDD only capture the TUI useage numbers. If it were me I would setup a couple of test accounts on CUC and play with the reports using a "known" testbed. The other thing I always do if I'm unsure when deleting mailboxes is to just re-assign them a phantom DN for 30 days or so before the final removal. This way they can be easily reinstated with the original DN/extension if the mailbox was removed in error and the user won't have any setup to do over.
Cheers!

Thanks Rob
It seems no matter what report you run it only shows TUI activity and Cisco Viewmail is not recorded as Activity so we may go down the oldest unready mail although this isn't as useful as it maybe the voicemail box is unused and simply doesn't have any old voicemails.
Thanks, Carl Ratcliffe
