on our Subscriber.  Publisher upgrades fine.

Our Publisher is a MCS7835-12-K9-UCB1A with 6GB of memory.

Our Subcriber is a MCS7835-13-K9-UCB2 with 8 GB of memory.

I installed the .cop file on both servers prior to upgrade.

The Publisher seems to have upgraded fine.

I followed the same process with the Subscriber and it APPEARED to upgrade.

Please see the attached document to see the perplexing issue that I am running in to.

I'm going to get the databases repaired and in status 2 by checking from the CLI.

- Yes

I'm going to then reinstall the .cop file on both servers.

- I don't believe you have to re-install the .cop file since I believe that change was made on the active partition. (A good way of knowing if the .cop has already been installed would be if you see smtp options on the upgrade media selection page).

Both servers will be active and running at 8.0 with the Publisher as primary and the Subcriber as secondary.

- Yes

I am then going to install 8.6 fresh on the Publisher.  After it completes it will do a final reboot and be running at 8.6.

- Yes

Do I need to leave it running at 8.6 as I start the upgrade on the Subcriber?  Or do I need to switch running versions on the Publisher back to 8.0 and then start the upgrade to the Subsciber?

- Yes leave the Publisher running on 8.6 and verify that the Publisher is running as pirmary and taking calls. You can verify this under the Cisco Unity Connection Serviceability>Cluster Management page.

Last time I just let the Pub run at 8.6 while the Sub was upgrading.  Do you guys think that might have been a mistake?

- No that's the way you should do the upgrade.

Good luck I hope this works for you. I know how much it sucks to be stuck on a upgrade that should be pretty straight forward

Hi Tracee,

Your process looks fine to me as well, as Yosh nicely noted So

you aren't going insane....yet

I'm going to offer one piece of advice here if you don't mind........

if you don't HAVE TO finish this today, then I would walk away

for a bit and await the TAC case results. Sometimes the

time away from a problem will offer some clarity or objectivity.

If you are going to go forward right away, then really give the Pub lots

of time to completely finish b4 starting the Sub.

Some other hints here from Saurabh @ Cisco

Best of luck!

Cheers!

Thank you all for your help and your kind words!

I'm self taught on Cisco VoIP, so at times I tend to over-think things.

I'm going to do the db repair today.  But I'm going to wait until tomorrow night to re-upgrade the Publisher.  I'm going to press "enter" and then I am going to go to bed.  LOL

Will get up Saturday when I want to and start the upgrade on the Sub.  Press "enter" and then go goof off all day.

Thanks again for all of your help and I will let you know how it turns out.  You guys have a great evening!
