Hello
i have a Unity 4.04 configuried with the Fax Configuration Wizzard 2.0.0.22. Than i have configured a Third Party Fax Administration for Unity.
In Unity I have configured 2 users. When i send from the first User to the fax-Mailbox to the Unity a txt file, with the phone number from the 2 Unity User, than the Unity send the txt file to the 2 user and didn´t convert it to a tiff file how you can see it in the training vidio http://www.ciscounitytools.com/App_IPFaxConfigurationWizard.htm
At this time i have no chance to test this with a Cisco Router. I have only a Unity Test System. Have sombody a idee waht i must chance at the configuration?
Thanks for your help.

You can't send files that way. If you send something to the fax mailbox, it must have [faxphone=####] in the subject. That number will be transformed to an email address fax=####@gateway.com, where gateway.com is the suffix for the router. If gateway.com doesn't exist in DNS, then the fax service will--after rendering the file--send you an NDR back with the rendered file. So if you just want to test the rendering without a gateway, that might be an option.

when i look to the trainings vidio it seems a other way. you see that the person send a file to the cisco untiy. eg. faxunity@unity.com. at the fax Configuration Wizzard you see, that the E-Mail box for inbound und outbound faxes are faxunity@unity.com is. Unity look to this Box and look to the subject. In the subject you see DNIS=2000. than Unity send this E-mail to the person with the Directory number 2000. In the trainings vidio you see, that the person send from his Outlook a TXT file. Than he get at the person with the number 2000 an E-Mail with a tiff file. The third party application has rendert the txt file to the tiff file.
In my configuration the user with the extension 2000 only get the txt file. the file will not be renderd.

I think I didn't understand what you are trying to do, so please correct me. My understanding was that you are trying to send a fax (outbound) from a user, but do not have a gateway, but you want to test if the rendering works.
You cannot send an outbound fax to faxunity@unity.com and have it render it and detect the message as an inbound fax to a Unity subscriber. The only way is to send the fax outbound and have it NDR the message (because the gateway is not available) back to the sender. That will show you the rendered image.
An outbound fax is one sent from an email sender which will have a subject of [faxphone=####], where #### is the number of the fax machine you want to send to.
An inbound fax is an email message with TIF attachment sent from the router. The message will have [DNIS=####] where #### is the fax number of a unity subscriber, or their extension itself.
Rendering ONLY happens when sending an outbound fax.
There is a troubleshooting guide just posted yesterday, that might help, too:

Hi,
thanks for the troubleshooting guide and to explane me my the different between DNIS and faxphone.
I have now test it with [faxphone=0439324] and send it to the Unity Fax box. Than I get a message back Subject unparsable. The message will delivered to the undelivered mailbox that i have configured at the installation. The txt file will not reandert to a tif file.
I have made all the things that stand in the troubleshooting guide. I didn´t find any error.

Are you sure you specified outbound faxing during the IP Fax wizard installation? If you did, could you attach the IPFaxSvc trace. It should show the service logging into the correct fax mailbox and detecting a message (see troubleshooting guide for an example of that).

Hi, what version of the IP Fax wizard are you using? There was a defect in an early release with the subject parsing which looks like this issue. If you go to http://www.ciscounitytools.com/App_IPFaxConfigurationWizard.htm
and install the latest, I think you'll get a lot further.

Hi,
the solution is, that a German OS is not Supported we must install a english os and that the fax wizzard will work http://www.ciscounitytools.com/App_IPFaxConfigurationWizard.htm

Do you have the TAC SR#? What specifically wasn't supported with the German OS?
