Upgrade to 6.1.5 TFTP impact

I`m looking through various posts regarding the above upgrade form 6.1.2 and understand I need to two upgrades - 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 then 6.1.5

Question TFTP Phone loads

When the cluster gets upgraded the device defaults will change. Will it be good to stop the TFTP Service before I do any upgrade so the phones will not look to the TFTP then

  • Upgrade the cluster- Pub, TFTP and Subs

  • Switch partitions to 6.1.3 PUB, TFTP only

  • On the TFTP replace the new phone loads with the old 6.1.2 versions and then restart TFTP service

  • Switch the remaining Subs

My thinking is that the phone loads will remain at the 6.1.2 level?

Then repeat the above for the 6.1.3 to 6.1.5 upgrade

Also is it true I can kick of the Subscribers all at the smae time? rather then one at a one

thanks

Hi IPT,

I like your thinking here

One thing I noticied is that you don't mention changing the Device Defaults

on the Pub/Subs prior to restarting the TFTP service. There are some good references

for this in the attached .pdf.

Here is some info on "Parallel" upgrades where you can start the Subscriber upgrades

at the same time as you nicely noted.

Hi Rob

Sorry I thought I mentioned that.

  • Prior to the upgrade copy into  notepad the old Device Default Phone loads

  • Stop TFTP Service

  • Upgrade Pub and TFTP

  • Upgrade remaining Subs

  • Switch partitons

  • After the TFPT upgrade, Device Defaults will have the new phone loads- BUT TFTP STOPPED, Copy the old phone loads from notepad back into the Device Defaults

  • Re-start TFTP Service
