Windows Server 2003 SP1 on Domain Controller

Using Unity 4.04(SR1), UM. DC's are on separate boxes(!)

We have two domain controllers that are currently at Windows Server 2003 (native mode). They do not run Windows Server 2003 SP1 yet because I have this vague recollection that Unity had a DC/GC problem if the domain controllers ran Windows Server 2003 SP1.

Can someone please confirm that this is not the case (or not the case anymore)? We want to patch the DCs but we all seem to feel in the back of our minds that Unity is holding us back!

Thanks,

- Tony -

Hi Tony -

Perhaps this is the field alert you are thinking about - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_field_notice09186a00804412a6.shtml

The issue is with Windows 2003 SP1 on Exchange 2003 servers and the Unity server itself. There is an updated version of the Unity permissions wizard that needs to be run after installing Windows 2003 SP1 on the Unity server - to re-enable DCOM permissions. See this link before upgrading the OS on Exchange 2003 partner or Unity servers - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_tech_note09186a00804d2ab0.shtml. This has been addressed in Unity 4.1, which supports Windows 2003 SP1 (and is recommended). I don't believe there is a problem with DC/GCs on separate servers.
