Installing unity connection in vmware vsphere 4 with OWA templates

I downloaded OWA template (CUC_8.6_vmv7_v1.5) from cisco site and selected the option for 1000 users.

With the UCSInstall_UCOS_8.6.1.20000-1 iso image I dont see the option to install unity connection.

I know the iso is ok, but for some reason the OWA template does not create correct machine so connection option install is not available?

thx

Try increasing the HDD or try a CUCM template.

Hi Bart,

I had the same problem with 8.0.2.

I ended up not using the template.

I set manually, OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (32-bit), CPU: 1, Memory: 2048MB, 160GB Disk.

Hope that helps!

Matty

so i picked the template with 5000 users and it worked

I had a similar problem so am adding details of the problem I encountered for anyone else who finds the same.

Installing Unity Connection 8.6 in a VMware ESXi environment so looked for OVA templates in the Unity Connection Downloads area of cisco.com by selecting Cisco Unity Connection Version 8.6 and then clicked the link for Unified Communications Manager Virtual Machine Templatess.  The only file available in this location is cucm_8.6_vmv7_v1.5.ova which is the OVA template for CUCM 8.6.  This does not work for CUC as the combinations of Virtual Memory and Virtual Disk Size do not meet the system requirements for CUC 8.6, so when you boot a VM created from this template from the 8.6 installation media it simply installs CUCM (you don't even see the Product Deployment Selection screen).

I found the correct OVA template for CUC 8.6 by following the link Cisco Unity Connection Virtualisation from the Unity Connections Downloads tree (not the link for Cisco Unity Connection Version 8.6 as you would think, although this is actually documented in the Release Notes under Downloading a VMware OVA Template for a Connection 8.6 Virtual Machine).  You then see a link to download the file CUC_8.6_vmv7_v1.5.ova which is the correct template for CUC 8.6 - create a VM using this template and this time when you boot of the installation media you get the Product Deployment Selection window where you can chosose to install CUC as you would expect.

Hope this helps anybody who stumbles across this in future.
