Ced Caldwell

I need some detailed info on how to add an 5108 Blade Series Server to an existing domain within UCS.

Also, can this be done with no downtime?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Ced,

You would just need to connect your IOMs to your Fabric Interconnects and configure the interfaces in UCSM as "Server" ports. After this is done, the chassis should automatically discover, along with any blades that are installed.

Here is some info on chassis discovery policy:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/gui/config/guide/2-0/b_UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_0/b_UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_0_chapter_01100.html

Here is the "Install Guide" if you are looking for physical specs:

Greetings.

Are you asking about adding another 5108 chassis to an existing pair of Fabric Interconnects?

If so, its a matter of adding required twinax or compatible SFP connection between IOMs of new chassis and the FIs once you have adequate power and FAN modules installed in the new chassis.

Adding a new chassis does not require downtime.

Thanks,

Kirk

Yes the 5108 will be added to an existing pair of FI's.

Is there any documentation on this process?

Thanks.

HTH,

Wes

Thanks.

Under UCS Manager 3.1, how can I integrate a new chassis into existing domain without impacting production.

I don't see where this is done without a global policy?

Ced,

You need to plug in the IOM interfaces to the fabric interconnects and then configure the interfaces as server ports to discover the new chassis.
