I could access KVM NAT IP in the past when downloading kvm.zip from UCSM 2.x (java based) but now with UCSM 4.x I cannot. When I browse using KVM direct WEB page, it failed when using NAT IP. Is there any workaround or solution to this? thank you

To access the KVM NAT IP with UCSM 4.x, you can follow these steps:

1. In your web browser, type or select the web link for the management IP address of the server you want to access.
2. If a Security Alert dialog box appears, click Yes to create a security exception. The security exception is permanently stored in your browser's cache.
3. In the Cisco UCS KVM Direct dialog box, specify the name, password, and domain.
4. Click the Launch KVM button to start HTML5 KVM.

Alternatively, you can access the KVM console from a server or a service profile:

To start the KVM console from a server:

1. In the Cisco UCS Manager GUI, navigate to Equipment ) Chassis ) Servers.
2. Choose the server you want to access through the KVM console.
3. In the Work pane, click the General tab.
4. Scroll down to the Actions area and click the )) button to the right of KVM Console.
5. Select an address from the Select IP Address list.
6. Click OK.

To start the KVM console from a service profile:

1. In the Cisco UCS Manager GUI, navigate to Servers ) Service Profiles.
2. Expand the node for the organization which contains the service profile for which you want to launch the KVM console.
3. Choose the service profile for which you need KVM access to the associated server.
4. In the Work pane, click the General tab.
5. Scroll down to the Actions area and click the )) button to the right of KVM Console.
6. Select an address from the Select IP Address list.
7. Click OK.

The KVM console will then be launched using the specified IP address, allowing you to access the server remotely.

I knew the standard console KVM but it does NOT work for NAT IP. In the past I can download KVM java script and run it to open KVM console using NAT IP.

Hi @robin99 ,

Excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by "KVM NAT IP"?

UCS Manager allocated IP addresses from a pool for CIMC/KVM access.  When you access the KVM console (either Java based or HTML 5 based), a session is established between your device and the CIMC/KVM address.  No NAT involved.

If accessing the KVM console via Intersight - then that is a totally different story.

So tell me a bit more about where NAT fits into your scenario.

Hi, The UCS environment is in client network (for example IP 10.1.1.1 as blade KVM) and the management desktop sits outside where it can only reach the blade KVM IP by using NAT IP ie: 4.1.2.3. there is a NAT router/ firewall in between them.

Hi @robin99 ,

Sounds like a routing/NAT problem - independent of the UCS. However, I haven't  analysed how the KVM protocol works to see if IP addresses or port numbers are exchanged end-to-end, but can't imagine they are.

I'd start by double checking that the KVM IP has been configured with the correct default gateway.

Not sure how soon I can get a chance to lab this - hopefully someone else (@Robert Burns) may be able to shed light on this in the meantime.

thanks for your reply. I can confirm that NAT is fine (one to one static IP) which worked in the past when using UCSM2.x KVM JAVA.  The old kvm script was downloaded from UCSM 2.x cluster ip https://x.x.x.x/kvm.zip. This URL is no longer valid for new UCSM.
