Customer does a (xml) backup of a UCS domain with 4 chassis; then he erases the configuration, does a inital setup and then a restore.
He was quite surprised, that the numbering of the chassis has been changed ?
Has this something to do with the flag "preserve identities", which he forgot to tick ?

FYI, I did the test, and indeed, if the flag "preserve identies" is set, chassis numbering, mac, pwwn, uuid assignment are restored according to the backup configuration.

Yup, always use "preserve identities" if you might have to restore from the xml file. It's not needed if you want to create a "gold image" to push to other Interconnects.....
