Board controller and B200 M3

Hi,

What is the board controller ? what it do ?

I have to upgrade a UCS domain with 12 B200M3 to UCSM 2.2(1b) : do i need to upgrade the board Controller ???

which version to choose : 11, 5 or 8 ???

Any piece of information about bord Controller is welcome.

I was having trouble activating board controller when I upgrade from 2.1.1a to 2.2.1b and I had to activate it after the update. The versions I activate after talking to Cisco is 11 for B200M3 and 8 for B22M3

Why are you not creating a host firmware package, and load it with V2.2.1b; then you can check what the latest recommended version for the board controller is.

HFP assigned to a SP, also has the advantage, that with one server reboot, CIMC, BIOS,..Board Controller are updated; which otherwise require multiple reboots....

Any time you upgrade the firmware of your UCS environment is recommend that you upgrade all of UCS components including the blade components such as the BMC

which version to choose : 11, 5 or 8 ???

This depends on the version of firmware your UCS environment is running. For example, if your ucs environment is running firmware version 2.2(1) and you have b200 m3 blades you want to select the latest which is 11.

You can verify the correct version by going into the UCS bladed bundle package in UCSM  (see screenshot attached)
