Hello,

we've got 2 SNS 3515 (C220M4) and on one of them I made a mistake with firmware management, so with a browser I don't get the login form. (with Internet Explorer, Firefox wants the Flashplayer Plugin, no way on this Management Server)

the Machine with working firmware:

BIOS:
    BIOS Version: C220M4.3.0.3a.0.0321172055
    Backup BIOS Version: C220M4.3.0.4b.0.0
    Boot Order: CDROM,HDD
    FW Update/Recovery Status: None, OK
    UEFI Secure Boot: enabled
    Configured Boot Mode: Uefi
    Actual Boot Mode: Uefi
Last Configured Boot Order Source: CIMC
    One time boot device: (none)

Cisco IMC:
    Firmware Version: 3.0(3S2)
    Current Time: Thu Apr 30 12:15:57 2020
    Boot-loader Version: 3.0(3S2).36
    Local Time: Thu Apr 30 12:15:57 2020 UTC +0000
    Timezone: UTC
    Reset Reason: ac-cycle

the Machine nor working (GUI Login):

BIOS:
    BIOS Version: C220M4.3.0.3a.0.0321172055
    Backup BIOS Version: C220M4.4.0.2d.0.0627191019
    Boot Order: CDROM,HDD
    Boot Override Priority:
    FW Update/Recovery Status: None, OK
    UEFI Secure Boot: enabled
    Configured Boot Mode: Uefi
    Actual Boot Mode: Uefi
Last Configured Boot Order Source: CIMC

Cisco IMC:
    Firmware Version: 2.0(9c)
    Current Time: Thu Apr 30 12:17:36 2020
    Boot-loader Version: 2.0(9c).36
    Local Time: Thu Apr 30 12:17:36 2020 UTC +0000
    Timezone: UTC
    Reset Reason: graceful-reboot

Is there a way to install a firmware without the GUI?

I know I can activate an alternative BIOS but I guess the problem is the cimc-firmware

any help?

If you have ssh access, then you can attempt upgrade and activation of CIMC firmware.

See https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/sw/cli/config/guide/b_Cisco_CIMC_CLI_Configuration_Guide/Cisco_CIMC_CLI_Configuration_Guide_chapter11.html#concept_2C13E744DD59456685EE8A69B026FD72

Procedure

  Command or Action Purpose
Step 1 Server# scope cimc

Enters the CIMC command mode.

Step 2 Server /cimc # scope firmware

Enters the CIMC firmware command mode.

Step 3 Server /cimc/firmware # update tftp-ip-address path-and-filename

Starts the firmware update. The server will obtain the update firmware at the specified path and file name from the TFTP server at the specified IP address.

Step 4 (Optional) Server /cimc/firmware # show detail

Displays the progress of the firmware update.

This example updates the firmware:

Server# scope cimc
Server /cimc # scope firmware
Server /cimc/firmware # update 10.20.34.56 /user/updates/filename
