I've setup more than 35 UCS clusters at my previous job... However, at my new job we have only 1 core/upstream device for which I am supposed to configure a new standalone UCS w/6324's to. I've never expenced an environment with only 1 core 6509 with 1 networking blade. Am i over thinking this or do i just treat this setup no differantly? Is there anything unique with only 1 upstream device handling both FI's that i need to be aware of? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Mark
Nothing special ! the only concern would be single point of failures, eg. your whole UCS will be down, in case your single North bound switch is down.

Yup building a environment with multiple spof's. during the setup you will be asked about the cluster single node etc. Maybe a consideration in the future if you expand and look to add resillience later.
