Hello,

We would like to connect a tape drive directly to a vNic 1227 (C240 M4). The negociation from the tape drive was configured as "loop" for direct attachment. The device is still not discovered by our Windows Server 2012 R2.

Is there a configuration to do at the C240 M4 ?

Thank you in advance for your help

Regards,

You can't directly connect that to the vic 1227 anyway, as the SR optics for the vic 1227 are Ethernet, and not FC.

What kind of interface is on your tape unit? (i.e. 8Gb FC, 10Gb eth/fcoe, etc)?

I'm not sure FCOE direct connection is supported as you will not have anything providing the basic FC fabric services (i.e. flogi, plogi, NS, etc).

I think you can do direct FC connections, but would need a native FC HBA.

The tape drive is a 8Gb FC (IBM LTO7 HH).
