Hello all,
Maybe this question was published before but i was unable to find an answer that solvedy issue.
I acquired an UCS C240 M4 recently with firmware version 2.0.
I upgraded to version 4.2 without problem.
Since I had no access to the CIMP web interface because I didn't have the current password, I tried everything I could to reset the password: BIOS reset, CIMC factory reset and so on.
I was able to finally reset.
After rebooting a few days later, all the drives were offline:
- Hard drives lights are off
- RAID controller showns 0 drives and 0 virtual drives.
Can you help me understand what did I do wrong?

The controller doesn't see any disks. Most commonly this is caused by cabling issues.
How did you upgrade from UCS CIMC 2.0 to 4.2?
Did you boot the Cisco HUU (Host Upgrade Utility) or some other method?
Were all of the different firmware components upgraded (PCI devices, storage controller, disk, etc)? Or only CIMC/BIOS?

I boote from a USB flash drive and installed all components successfully. All of them passed

I could even downgrade the firmware if it makes it working, but I don't know which one is it. Tried installing version 2.0(13) with same results

Does CIMC see the front loading disks?
SSH to the CIMC management IP and run:
connect debug-shell
sensors
There should be a bunch of "HDD#_STATUS" lines.
I think on M4 "0x0180" was "Disk present and happy".
If those disks show 0x0180, then check the SAS cabling.
Unfortunately the Cisco UCS documentation regarding internal SAS cabling is severely lacking, so I am not sure of the PID of the cable.
