hi,
have a customer who wants to connect their UCS FI's to their N7K using 2232's ("because a 10G port on the FEX is cheaper").
anyone want to suggest why this might be a bad (or good) idea?
thanks,
R.

Rob,
This is not a supported topology and overall a very BAD idea. The FEX was designed for host connectivity to each port. The device uses a shared buffer system and the queue depths are not at a high enough level to support the type of traffic that would be coming from a multi-host system like UCS.
