Hyperflex, upstream network ports NEED to have spanning-tree set to portfast, or spanning-tree port type edge trunk

We have seen cases where customers experienced avoidable Hyperflex related outages because FI connected upstream ports did not have the correct spanning tree config.

For Hyperflex related FI installs, Catalyst switches should have the "portfast" option, and NXOS related switches should have the "spanning-tree port type edge trunk" config.  This helps avoid the ports going into a blocking state during convergence events.

This is very important when upgrading/reboot FIs during the UCSM infrastructure upgrades, especially during the 'failback' period when a rebooted FI is coming back online, and you have temporary mix of some servers still pinned to A side, and some to B side.

If you are planning on doing HX related upgrades, please check all your related upstream network port configs to make sure they have the correct spanning-tree configs before doing upgrades.

Thanks,

Kirk...
