Hey Folks,

I was wondering if this was true, So i had a SAN that I was not using and it had a bunch of Hitachi 10K SAS. I wanted to use them in my server and every time i plugged it in and try to go to webbio it would freeze all the time. According to one of the Cisco techs, he said the HD's must be a cisco or certified drive.

I dont understand! When i go to CIMC, it sees the HD and it says good, but I can not make a raid volume or anything. Is it because its a Hitachi? or is it because the server cant recognize it due to the drives were in a raid array

Is this because of the block size the EMC has changed?

Each server that we sell has a certain and specific list of drives that will function when inserted into it.  We test and configure the firmware on the box to function with certain drive types to ensure performance and reliability.  The list of supported drives can be found within the spec sheet below.

https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/c240m4-sff-spec-sheet.pdf

If the PIDs of the drives in question are not within the supported list, we would not guarantee those drives to work normally, as such, Cisco TAC would also not be capable of providing full support in the event of a failure.

Check the PIDs of the drives against the spec sheet, and report back with what the PIDs are and whether they are within the supported drive list.

Thanks!
