Hi.
Is it possible to enable/add a vmotion port-profile after the hosts have been migrated into the Nexus DVS?
Hosts are ESXi4.1 Update 1 with a single vmk0, dual nic's.
From the documentation I have, we need to create additional vmk groups before adding the host into the DVS, and then mapping those to port-profiles.
I need to add these vmk's afterwards, as the hosts are in a production environment.
thank you,
Danie

Yes. First create a Port Profile for VMotion on the VSM. Next select the host and go to Configuration -> Neworking -> Manage Virtual Adapters -> Add -> New Virtual Adapter/Migrate Virtual Adapter.
This will let you setup a new VMK interfaces and/or assign it to the corresponding VMotion Port profile created previously.
The VMotion port-profile would look something like:
port-profile type vethernet dvs_vmotion
vmware port-group
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan x
no shutdown
state enabled

Robert
