NIM E-Series NCE Reset to factory defaults

Hello.

I have to return a UCS-EN140N-M2/K9 (UCS E-Series) (NIM E-Series NCE) (UCSE) because it doesn't have a sufficient capacity (50 GB) to install CUC (160 GB).

But I have installed a Vmware ESXi host on this UCSE with a valid license.

I would like to "remove" it from the UCSE.

I've tried the "Hard Reset Server" functionality from the CIMC but I couldn't make it work.

Can you tell me how to reset this equipment to factory defaults?
Thank you.

Best regards.

There is a reset to factory defaults option in the CIMC of the UCS-E module.

What are you trying to remove from the UCS-E? The license is built into the software.

Hello.

I was talking about the functionality highlighted in red in the image below:

CUCM Hard Reset ServerCUCM Hard Reset ServerWhen I click the button, a dialog appears asking for confirmation but then nothing happens.

Meaning the Vmware ESXi host/hypervisor is still installed on the UCSE after I click the button.

I am trying to remove the Vmware ESXi host/hypervisor.

Just as if I had installed a Debian OS on a server and wanted to erase the partitions so that no one can boot into the OS anymore.

Best regards.

Hello again.

I am looking for some tool like the Windows "format" command but for ESXi.

But maybe they would know better on the Vmware forum...

If you want to blow away ESXi, just format the virtual drive from the storage tab or delete and re-create it.

Hello.

Thank you for your answer.

My CIMC storage is empty as you can see in the image below:

CIMC storage tab emptyCIMC storage tab emptySo,I cannot do what you suggest.

What do you think about ESXi CLI "partedUtil" command?

Best regards.

Hello.

I decided to reinstall the ESXi host to erase the one that I had customized.

This solves my problem even if I didn't actually delete the disks partitions as I wanted at first.

Best regards.
