Hi,

I have to move Cisco UCS FI and Chassis from our DC to New Data Center which is in another floor. Plan is to shutdown, remove the FI and Chassis, and connect it to New Rack in New DC and power it on.

UCS Blades are configured to boot from SAN.

Could you please guide me the steps to do it.

shutdown blades, Chassis and FI

remove the blades from Chassis, remove Chassis and FI

Connect the Chassis and FI in new DC
insert the blades as same as before

Power on the devices

Power on the blades

Anyone had this experience before please guide.

Thanks

Is this single homed device, then you need to shutdown end to end and move to differnet Rack.

If ti was dual homed then you cna use same proceedure we use for when the device failed Cisco RMA unit to replace.

Except config everything same.

Hi BB,

Thanks for your reply.

Its a single homed device.

So i have to shutdown all servers and FI and move to different rack.

If i remove the blades from chassis the service profiles or configuration gets affected or not? since the blades are configured to boot from SAN.

Regards

You can pull the blades, it will have effect, best suggestion to shutdown all dependencies.

Lift and shift, and make it ON one by one and test. (make sure you take backup config before you move or shutdown)
