Removed the 5k and directly attached storage to FI

Greetings, thanks for reading. I have NetApp storage attached to Nexus 5k for the FCoE zoning and SAN boot and then to ACI.

We simply removed those connections to the 5k and instead directly attached to the Fabric Interconnects and went from twinax to LC fiber cable if that makes a difference.

We performed 2 steps:

1. Set the FI to Switch Mode for the FCoE and rebooted

2. Change the ports to FCoE uplinks.

The ports never come up and show red (Fail) in UCSM. We checked all physical layers with a light. Something I'm missing or is there a guide for this?

If your storage is attached directly to the FIs, then it needs to be a FC storage type port, not an FC uplink.

Thanks,

Kirk...

Genious, thanks for that. We also noticed we needed break out cables because it's a 6332 which is 40GB ports going to a 10GB port. We used the QSFP to SFP adapters so I guess that FI doesn't drop the speed automatically.
