Hi
Is it possible to configure a UCS environment with just one FI?
I am aware that this is not a good idea and there will be redundancy considerations but I have been asked the question.
It will be in a test environment but support from Cisco would still be required.
Any opinions would be apriciated .
Thanks

It can be done ! however, it is a very bad idea indeed. The only motivation is cost saving !
A test environment should simulate a operational environment, which I hope consists of 2 FI's. Why then do this ?
I bet 99.99% of all UCS installations are 2 FI's configurations.

Hello,
Yes, we will support you with one fabric interconnect, but as Walter mentioned, there is a critical lack of redundancy and we typically only see it in lab environments.

Hi Walter,
Thanks for your reply.
I agree with you 100%, and yes it is purely for cost savings.
I wonder, now, if Cisco would support such a config?

Hi Declan
Open a TAC case and ask them this question.
I would think it is supported, because you are initially asked if this should become a single or clustered configuration.
Walter.
