I have a UCS MINI domain with v4.0(4b) firmware, ESXi v6.7u1 and using FC via Brocade switches for SAN access.
Now I have purchased new MDS switches and IBM Storwiz FS7200 to replace the existing SAN infrastructure. It should be a fairly straight forward process IMHO but the confusion comes in when I checked UCS Compatibility matrix, link below.
https://ucshcltool.cloudapps.cisco.com/public/
It shows the IBM 7200 is only supported with UCS Firmware v4.1 and above. It also shows "Not supported on UCS Mini" in the notes, screenshot below. So the questions:
- Is the firmware v4.1 required when IBM 7200 is connected via MDS switches?
- Does this "Not supported on UCS Mini" only apply to when the storage is directly attached using FC OR it applies to both directly attached and connected via MDS switch?

I did also open a TAC case regards, but the answer I got from TAC is mixed...
