Hi All,
We have a Cisco UCS rack mount server that currently has 4 drives configured in a raid with one being a spare. We need to add storage so we have ordered 5 other drives and want to set up another raid volume with a spare.. So basically we launch the MegaRaid bios Config Utility on start-up (ctrl H) and go into configuration wizard. The thing that is making us nervous is a message creating a new configuration that says it will clear the existing configuration. Would like assistance with this as we don’t want to clear the current setup.
You help is appreciated.

You'll be wanting to add a configuration.
New is just that - new, from scratch.
I suppose the terminology is a bit odd, but you have three choices in front of you: New, Add, Clear. There's an explanation of each one iirc.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the reply , I saw that in Mega raid , if you have to add another raid, you have to destroy what you current have and recreate them ? how do I do this on a service profile ?
Sincerely,

Hi Saleem
Adding a configuration will allow you to choose your new disks to create a new RAID array. The old one should be kept intact. We had to do this the other day on an IBM server but it too was using the Megaraid software.
If your host is running a Windows OS with a supported RAID controller you might want to use the Win32 GUI based setup utility. It's far easier. I have a C240 standalone server and simply could not use the Megaraid BIOS - it's horrible!
I don't know how to do this in a Service Profile however, you're on your own there unless someone else can help out.
Cheers
Richard
