Hello,
I have an UCS environment with FI 8324 and B200-M3 blades and VIC1240 cards.
The VIC1240 data sheet says support for up to 255 virtual interfaces.
But the service profile association fails when there are more than 32 vHBA's created.
Is there another limit that is restricting this or is there any licensing?
Thanks!

Correct, this limit of 256 is a hardware / firmware limit; the installed OS however restricts this limit to a much lower number !

The UCS Configuration Limits guide that you pasted has these limits --
VIC Environment Configuration Limits
Static Virtual NICs per Host for Cisco UCS 6200 Series, Cisco UCS 6332 Series, and Cisco 6324 Fabric Interconnect
OS | vNICs | vHBAs | Max Combination of vNICs and vHBAs |
Win 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1 | 20 | 16 | 12 Enics and 8 Fnics |
Win 2012 and Win 2012 R2 | 20 | 16 | 12 Enics and 8 Fnics |
Win 2016 | 20 | 16 | 12 Enics and 8 Fnics |
Fibre Channel Environment Configuration Limits
Feature | Cisco UCS 6200 Series | Cisco UCS 6332 Series | Cisco UCS 6324 |
Virtual Fibre Channel interfaces per blade
| 16 | 16 | 16 |
Do these limits supersede the VIC capabilities (256 virtual interfaces)?
Currently, service profile association to a blade fails if we have more than 32 vHBA’s.
Thanks
