In Case of Dual active or Split brain what actually causes data plane to break. As end device already have Ip resolved either to Virtaul or Physical mac address. Shouldn't existing flows continue even when we have both vPC peer active. Its theres state in vPC but how is that related to l2 forwading dessicion that are  being made.

Akash,

All vPC peers will be part of the same vPC domain, however only of them is configured to be the primary with the Role priority command.

Check the link above. It explains pretty good everything about vPCs

Hi

Thanks for your response.

Actually I do understand that Data plane breaks down in case of dual active scenario. what I wanted understand is what causes that to happen as for on going flows devices wont be needing vPC's consideration while forwarding layer 2 frames as what is needed would be the direction ( ports in this case) in which frame needs to be forwarded which would be there from earlier lookup and cache.

Regards

Akash

I dont get your question but I thik you are asking about what happens with the forwarding of frames when vPC fails... if that is the case, the explanation of possible reactions is here:
