Zoning in Service-Profile

Do we need to configure zoning in service-profile if fabric-interconnect is in FC End-Host-Mode as "End-host mode is synonymous with NPV mode."?

Topology overview:

UCS 5108 <-> FI in EHM <-> MDS <-> Storage

Greetings.

The only time you configure local zoning is if you are in FC switch mode.

In EHM, your FI's login to the MDS's Fports, that actually has the zones and vsans defined.

You'll obviously need to use your service profile WWPNs in your MDS zoning configs.

Thanks,

Kirk.

Thank you Kirk. I want to run FI in EHM but due confusion on zoning was about to run in FC switching mode. Better I continue with EHM. :-)

Unless your storage is directly attached to the FIs (which would require FC switch mode, as the FI then has to provide zoning and basic FC services) the end host mode is what you want.

Thanks,

Kirk...
