Fabric Interconnect local Admin password change

Hi! Expert:

My customer do not have the local admin password for their FI cluster anymore, the person create the setting left the company not in a good term.  They still can log in the cluster with remote authentication with admin privilege.

I changed the local admin password in UCSM.  but When I replaced the sub FI, and try to join the cluster, it will not take the new LOCAL ADMIN password.  Any suggestions?  This is production environment.  The primary FI can not be power off.

Thanks!

Greetings

When you say you have changed the local admin password in UCSM, were you able to ssh into the individual FIs with those updated credentials before you started to replace a FI?

What triggered the FI replacement?

If you are unable to determine the local admin password on the FI that is the remaining/existing Primary, then you will need to connect to the console of the FIs with console cable and follow steps in http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/gui/config/guide/2-2/b_UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_2/recovering_a_lost_password.html

Unfortunately, this will require a maintenance window.

Thanks,

Kirk

Set the Fabric Interconnect Default Authentication to Local first, then pair. Then swap back to your remote authentication source.

The local admin account doesnt appear to function at all if authentication is set to a remote source. Even for pairing a new member to the cluster.

"Selecting the Default Authentication Service"

I've just had to perform this to pair a RMA'd FI 6200
