Hi,

if we are talking about the "old" cisco softphone, the reason is quite clear.

The IP Softphone uses CTI Ports on the CCM, so during a SRST Failover those are gone so using the Softphone is not possible.

With regard to IP Communicator:

IPC isn't officially supported bysrst yet. It might still work(since ipc also works with cme and isn't officially supported)in new IOS versions, but i haven't tested it. Can anyone from cisco give more info regarding this?.

thanks

bernhard

I am not sure if I understand this properly but it looks like a software flaw. When the failover occurs the CCM resets all 23 lines and then when the srst finaly sinks it does the same thing. CISCO has no fix scheduled. Thanks for the input.

To make it clear:

This is NOT a bug. SRST is designed to do Backup Skinny Functionality.

So the old Softphone was never supported and there was no way to support it with srst (cisco mentions this in several design guides)

With regard to ipcmom:

IP Communicator will be officially supported by SRST by Jan. 2006. Once again, you will find this in alle the docs.

What are you really using?
