How do you add a fourth party to a conference call?

we have set up a UC320 for a customer with four analog phone lines and SPA 504G phones. The client has three branches and a corp office. We are trying to conference call all four locations but when trying to add the third branch office (the fourth party) we can't conference them in.

Hi Steven,

First I'll suggest looking at a WebEx account for conferencing.

Each  phone can set up a 3 way conference.  To add in a 4th party you will  need to conference from one of the other phones not doing the  conference.  The problem with this strategy is that if one of the phones  that performed the conference hangs up, it drops the other parties.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Thanks for the reply Chris.

With regard to a 4 way conference call would the following scenario be accurate.

The CEO of company ABC wants to hold a conference call with all three branch offices. S/he would dial the first branch office (using a SPA504G), press conf and dial the second branch office (a 3-way conference call is created) . At the same time another person in the corporate office would call branch 3 and then press the conf button, dial the CEO's extension and then all three branch offices would be connected.

Hi Steve,

Actually, this won't work.  One way to think about it is each phone can only have two audio legs up at a time.  In your example above the CEO would have 3 audio legs.

The way you would need to set up the call is:  CEO calls Branch 1 office, hits conferences and calls Branch 2 office.  Instructs Branch 2 office to hit conference and call Branch 3 office.  In this example, the CEO and Branch 2 phone have 2 audio legs up.  If either one of those users hangs up it will disconnect the connected legs.

Hope this helps.

Chris,

Thanks for the quick reply!

This helps very much. So althought the UC320 can handle up to 12 conference calls it is limited to 3 callers/audio legs/connections per conference call. The UC320 will allow 4 of these simultaneous conference calls at one time.

Thanks for your help Chris. I really appreciate it.

Steve
