I have 2 x Cisco 7925G phones that are running 1.4.1 SR1. If I upgrade the phones by USB to 1.4.5, will I run into any issues. I can't upgrade the firmware through the UC520 since its newer than the software pack. I guess the same question would apply to my 7975G phones.

Hi Reid,
I appologize. All the other 7900.zip files allow you to drang and drop. You can also drag and drop the .bin files for the SPA phones. I tested this in my lab and had the same results.
What you will need to do now is unzip the folder and then upload the files into the Phones>7925 folder and the 7924 files in the 7924 folder through CCA.
Then you will need to log into CLI and change the tftp-source command for the the 7924/7925 to point to the new phone load.
Example:
tftp-server flash:/phones/7925/APPSH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN alias APPSH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN
tftp-server flash:/phones/7925/CP7925G-1.4.5SR1.3.LOADS alias CP7925G-1.4.5SR1.3.LOADS
tftp-server flash:/phones/7925/GUIH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN alias GUIH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN
tftp-server flash:/phones/7925/JSYSH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN alias JSYSH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN
tftp-server flash:/phones/7925/SYSH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN alias SYSH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN
tftp-server flash:/phones/7925/TNUXRH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN.SBN alias TNUXRH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN
tftp-server flash:/phones/7925/TNUXH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN alias TNUXH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN
tftp-server flash:/phones/7925/JUIH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN alias JUIH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN
tftp-server flash:/phones/7925/WLANH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN alias WLANH-1.4.5SR1.3.SBN
Then you will need to change the telephony service load statement
telephony-service
load 7925 CP7925G-1.4.5SR1.3
After that the 7925 phones should pull the new loads and upgrade.

So I used the HTTP URL access to the phone and updated the firmware, of course after the upgrade is complete it downgrades back to 1.4.1. How can I keep the phone on the new firmware. I can't see any options in CCA or the HTTP URL access to force it to keep the new version.

Hello,
They keep going back to the old firmware because the UC is the TFTP server and loads what is on the UC. You can fix this by taking the new firmware .zip file and drag and drop it into the UC icon on the topology page in CCA. CCA will write all the new comands and load it into flash.
If CCA will not let you drag and drop then make sure your PC's "User Account Control Settings" are set to never notify. Also make sure Windows firewall is diabled.

Chris

Hi Chris,
According to the CCA Help guide, Cisco Model 7921 and 7925 phone loads are packaged in .tar files that you can drag-and-drop onto the UC500 icon.
I tried to drag and drop CP7925G-1.4.5SR1.3.TAR and get the error that it cannot upload the file, check the format and retry.
Should I be extracting the file first?
Thanks

You will need to drag and drop the cmterm-7925-sccp.1-4-5SR1-3.zip file. CCA will unpack it and upload the files into flash. Then it will write all the commands. Another thing to check, is to make sure you do not have any TFTP or FTP software running on your PC. This will block the files from being uploaded to flash.

Chris

I tried that file as well and got the same error. I don't have any TFTP services installed. I quit the FTP service and disabled VNC just in case.
Just ran netstat-a to confirm no FTP/TFTP services are running. I enabled Windows TFTP client as it appears that might be needed, but no dice. Firewall and ESET anti-virus are disabled.
