Would appreciate any views on bluetooth compatible (preferably over the ear) headsets for the SPA525G2 IP phones which allow you to initiate and answer calls using a button on the headset rather than having to answer (in particular) by pressing the headset button on the phone itself. Also, emphasis on sound quality / noise reduction / good talk time and with the ability to roam as far from the phone as feasible - without requiring a phone handset lifter. Looking for a simple, elegant solution.

Hi Darryl;
Not myself but other customers have used it without issues. It is somehow new so not officially tested yet.
If you want a fully tested device, please take Voyager 510S. Advantage of the PRO version is multipairing, not available on the 510S.

Dear Darryl;
First you need to enable bluetooth on the phone. You can do it from the phone itself
STEP 1 Press the Setup button.
STEP 2 Select User Preferences.
STEP 3 Select Bluetooth Configuration.
STEP 4 With Bluetooth selected, press the Right Arrow key to turn Bluetooth On.
STEP 5 Press Save.
After enabling Bluetooth, create a profile for your headset:
STEP 1 Enable Bluetooth as described above.
STEP 2 Press the Setup button.
STEP 3 Scroll to User Preferences and press Select.
STEP 4 Scroll to Bluetooth Configuration and press Select.
STEP 5 Scroll to Bluetooth Mode and press the Right Arrow key to choose "Both"
NOTE Your Cisco SPA 525G2 will connect to only one device at a time (either the Bluetooth headset or the Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone.)
If multiple Bluetooth devices are in range of the Cisco SPA 525G2, the order of devices in the Bluetooth Configuration > Bluetooth Profiles list is used,
and the device with a higher priority is activated first.
STEP 6 Scroll to Bluetooth Profiles and press the Right Arrow key to enter the profile screen.
STEP 7 Press Scan to scan for your headset.
NOTE Depending on the network environment (for example, the number of Bluetooth devices and noise level), your Bluetooth headset may not appear on the found devices list. Ensure the headset is powered on and has Bluetooth activated, and retry the scan. Please also ensure that your headset is set to pairing mode during this phase (read the headset instructions).
STEP 8 In the list of found devices, select your headset and press the Select button to edit the profile.
STEP 9 Scroll to PIN and enter the PIN for your Bluetooth headset.
STEP 10 Scroll to Connect Automatically and press the Right Arrow key to turn to On.
STEP 11 Press Connect. The profile screen displays and a check mark appears next to the headset if the connection was successful.

Hi Darryl;
Thanks. You can use the dongle for your PC applications. The nice feature of this headset is that you can handle telephone and PC-voice apps at the simultaneously.

Hi Alberto - thank you for the response. Have you tried this headset / phone pairing? Plantronics does not have this headset on their list of headsets that are compatible with the SPA525G - the support person at Plantronics said that this headset was appropriate for connecting with mobile phones and computers directly, but not IP phones?

Hi Alberto,
That's great. I've gone ahead and ordered the Pro UC. Thank you for your advice.

Hi Alberto,
Out of the box the headset doesn't seem to work. Is there a process I need to follow in pairing the phone and the headset or any configuring to be done on the phone itself?
Best regards,
Darryl

Thanks Alberto. I couldn't figure out how the dongle comes into play, but it doesn't. All working fine. Range is a little limited - but call quality appears to be unaffected. Thank you again.

I have an SPA525G2 that will not pair with a Plantronics Voyager Pro. The headset will pair with other SPA525G handsets and iPhones without issue. The pair fails only on this one handset.
I have tried a factory reset of the handset, reflashing the firmware (7.4.6 as that is what the PBX supports) without any success.
It paired once with the handset, but after a factory reset it stopped pairing.
This handset will pair with other headsets. Perhaps there is some retention of the previous pairing that is causing the issue.
Any suggestions?

Hi David,
Thank you for posting. I helped someone the other day with the same phone and headset and we were able to get it to connect. We were unable to get it to pair from the phone itself, however when we logged into the web interface and tried from there it connected very quickly. We followed the instructions in the Admin Guide. You can download the Admin Guide at the following page. The instructions start on page 77:
Please let us know if this works or if you need further assistance.

The support doc link is somewhat dated, but does have some good options for both wired and bluetooth headsets for the SPA series phones.

I'm trying to pair my Plantronics Voyager Pro V2 with a SPA525G2.
I have 6 phones of varying firmware and BT firmware levels.
The pairing behavior seems almost random. Sometimes it works with the phone's GUI, the it will only work with the web GUI, then we have to reset the phone and the phone will never pair again.
I can figure out how to roll back the BT firmware and I am about to RMA the phone.
If you plug the phone into the power outlet instead of the UC540 immediately after opening the box, it will almost always pair. After that, its hit and miss and then it seems it wont pair ever again - even after a SPA525G2 "reset".
The latest firmware does nothing to improve the situation - even though it claims to address bluetooth issues.
